Survivor Finale

#1 Post by starfish1113 » Mon May 12, 2008 6:20 am

I'll spoilerize it for you TiVOers....
Spoiler
One of the best seasons so far. The blind sides were fantastic. I was a bit disappointed with the final vote, though. I thought Amanda was far more worthy of the million than Parv. Especially towards the end, she seemed to be in control of the game and the strategy.

One question: Have they ever explained what would happen if they ended up with a tie vote?

They haven't, as far as I know.

Maybe they would make the contestants compete to see who could light a fire the fastest.

Probably. It must have been extra pressure on them, to think that the competition still might not be over, after all the time that's elapsed since they've come back.

I hated the result!

I grew up with females (I won't dignify her with the term woman) like Parvati - scheming, manipulative, lie to your face with a smile.

I didn't like 'em then, I don't like 'em now.

I also think Amanda is both more attractive than Parvati and looked better on the island than she did on the finale show.

Judgemental, me?

You bet!

And I think the location for the next one, Gabon, is gonna be a real back breaker. I still think the previous Africa one was environmentally-wise, the toughest. Everything was just so difficult to do and no cooling ocean to dip into.

Let's see a Survivor Beirut or the like..................

I absolutely agree with both of these points.

I will agree with the 2nd part. I choose Pavarti for best looking between the two.

How about Natalie, was she making a play for Pavarti at final tribal? Why did Jeff not ask for further information as to what that was all about? Just wondering.

I think Amanda should have won, getting to final two twice you have to be doing something right. Forget all the back stabbing and whatnot, the game is to have a chance to win a million. I am really getting tired of the whiners on the jury complaining about gettting outplayed outwitted out whatever. The game is to get to the end. Period.

I was also hoping Amanda would win. She graduated from high school here, and her uncle works in my building. She did better in the challenges and didn't seem to 'enjoy' the negative aspects of the game the way Parvati did. She relished the backstabbing.

What about Ozzie complaining about sacrificing their relationships for the money!? "I could have had 18 more days with Amanda!"

Maybe he thought he had auditioned for The Bachelor.

I lived in Alpharetta for three months but that wasn't enough for me to vote for Parvati.

Spoiler
This is the only show I've seen so far where they didn't ask the voters why they voted for whomever they voted for.

I was astonished when Amanda didn't win. Parvati is a skanky little flirt who did little to no strategizing beyond abruptly jumping alliances at one point.

My personal favorite was Cerie, but since Amanda was so tight with Parvati I knew Cerie wasn't going to the final 2. Now, I could see Cerie as an attractive "money deserver" in contest with Amanda, but Parvati? Something was going on here that we didn't get let in on, which is not skanky-tell-all Survivor-style.

I had it scorecarded 5 to 3 in Amanda's favor based on what I saw during the season and at the Final. I must have missed something.

I had it:

Amanda - James, Ozzy, Erik, Alexis and Jason

Parvati - Cirie, Natalie and Eliza

So, who did I mess up on?

According to the posts on the Survivor forums on televisionwithoutpity.com, Alexis and Jason voted for Parvati.

Alexis and either Erik or Jason (aren't they the same person?) voted for Parvati. After the final tribal council, I predicted 4-4. The one I missed was Eliza.

I agree with ghost in that they should have left some time to ask the jury why they voted the way they did. For some (like Ozzy and Natalie, who were both in love with the person they voted for), it was obvious. For others like Eliza, Cerie, and Alexis, it would have been nice to know why they went the way they did.

Erik voted for Amanda. They showed him holding up the card and saying something along the lines of forgiving her.

Couldn't stand Parvati, Natalie OR Cirie. Cirie had a major hand in orchestrating much of the backstabbing, while letting others run their mouths and taking the credit/blame. She had plenty to say during the "one on one" camera confessionals, though..most of it smug and sarcastic. At the same time, she sat on her ass and let others do the work, and didn't even bust her butt on challenges. I really got tired of her smug grin during tribal councils while others were getting screwed royally.

So I disliked her almost as much as Parvati the manipulative skank and Natalie the psycho witch. Only thing that Cirie had in her favor as far as rooting interest goes is that she had a family that could use the money.

She did alright. Not a million, but alright. I commented to Amanda's uncle that if she couldn't win the mil, I wish she had won the 100K America could vote for. He reminded me she did quite a bit better than that with her #2 finish, so that's all right. I'm glad James got it, in that case. I like him, too.

Eliza should be present at every single Tribal Council from now on so that she can roll her eyes and react non-verbally to everything that occurs, but she should never be allowed to say another word on air unless it's "This is just a {bleep}ing stick".

I think in the end I was pulling for Amanda but thought the odds were against her.

I confess I was surprised by Eliza's vote for Parvati. Then again I was a little surprised by Erik's vote for Amanda.

I had Ozzie, James and Eliza in Amanda's camp and Erik, Natalie and Alexis in Parvati's camp.

Jason was pretty much an unknown to me.

To me Cirie was a bit of a wild card but I had her leaning towards Parvati since Amanda had to do the final dirty work. Had Parvati won the final immunity challenge and cut Cirie she may well have voted for Amanda, which is a little shallow on her part but in the end she struck me as a little shallow. Or maybe shallow isn't the right word.

It does apply to Parvati though! Not only did it seem to be her personality but it is her last name. Oddly fitting.

I also agree Amanda looked a bit odd (but then so did Parvati. And most of the rest of 'em as well for that matter, but they usually do). Amanda definitely looked better on the show than at the finale to me although she has one of those faces that often looks a bit "flaccid" or "slack jawed" at rest, for lack of a better word, when she isn't engaged in something.

Come on Marley...you know why he did that!! Buttering her up, thinking she was going to win the million and he'd get to share it!! I'm sure he thought it sounded more genuine before the win. Too bad she didn't win, I truly thought she deserved it more.
