Former NASA astronaut who orbited the moon in 1968 as part of the Apollo 8 mission with Jim Lovell and Frank Borman. Anders took the famous Earthrise photo. The three were named Time's men of the year for 1968. After his astronaut days, he became the first chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Anders died when his private plane crashed.
Age 90.
