Hall of Fame basketball coach who won 786 games at four schools, most notably Maryland and reached the NCAA tournament at each. Driessel resigned at Maryland following the 1985-6 season when his star player, ACC Player of the Year Len Bias, died of a cocaine overdose two days after being selected by the Boston Celtics in the NBA draft. Although Driessel was cleared by a grand jury of any wrongdoing in the matter, he left Maryland and became coach at James Madison.
Age 92.
