What a Game!

#1 Post by silverscreenselect » Sun Sep 17, 2023 8:46 pm

Earlier this week, my daughter got me a Daniel Jones jersey. So, eager to wipe away the stench of that game against Dallas last week, I headed to the local sports bar, wearing my Daniel Jones jersey and one of my Giants hats and carrying my Giants wallet. At halftime, I called my daughter and asked her to check if she could return the jersey for a refund.

Then after seeing statistic after statistic flash up on the TV screen showing how long it had been since a team had been outscored 60-0 in the first six quarters of a season (answer, at least 30 years), something amazing happened. The Giants scored in a bout a minute. The Cardinals also scored and added a two-point conversion so the Giants were down 28-7 four minutes into the third quarter. At that point, ESPN said the Cardinals had a 96.3% chance of winning the game. Plus, the Giants were going against a competent quarterback, not a choke artist like Tom Brady. But the Giants scored. And scored. And scored. And scored. And the Cardinals didn't. Final score 31-28, tying the largest comeback in Giants history and the largest in my lifetime. I told my daughter to hold off on asking for a refund.

Yes, the Cardinals are perhaps the worst team in the league, but a 21-point comeback is a 21-point comeback. And with San Francisco coming up Thursday, I'll take any wins I can.
