Children's libraries, ear. And it takes a lot more than one complainer. The left is adamant about keeping pornography in school libraries so drag queens can read them to kids. Not to mention training them to be racists. So they make it very difficult. Re: Al Gore
First, it isn't just children's libraries, unless you consider high school students children. Second, a recent study revealed that only 11 people accounted for a large percentage of the books being banned. Third, while I agree that drag queens aren't my cup of tea, I don't have a problem with them reading books to children. Surely you recall Flip Wilson's Geraldine, Tom Hanks in "Bosom Buddies", Milton Berle, etc., all of whom dressed in drag, but I don't believe that anyone was persuaded to start cross-dressing because they saw those people.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 06, 2023 12:18 pmChildren's libraries, ear. I have a feeling - just a feeling, mind you - that all the furor over banned books may make kids more anxious to read them.

Why in the world do CHILDREN need to have drag queens reading to them? Where in the world does that come from? How about strippers? Maybe we need nudist reading hours? I have nothing against people who work in strip clubs, or adults that prefer not wearing clothes with other adults in private settings. But WHAT DO THEY HAVE TO DO WITH CHILDREN IN SCHOOL? Why, for God's sake?Third, while I agree that drag queens aren't my cup of tea, I don't have a problem with them reading books to children.
Drag queens are NOT something that children need to be exposed to. And you need to ask yourself WHY all of a sudden it's a fad. What is the agenda behind putting two diametrically opposed things together? What is the benefit of stripping innocence away from a child?

Re: Al Gore
Why not have Cigar Smoker Reading Hour? Oh, cigar smoking is frowned on by the left. I know, 420 reading hour to introduce your 6 year old to the benefits of Marijuana. (Medical of course unless you're in a state that wants its citizens stoned as much as possible.) Let's have Junkie Reading hour for that matter. We can set up vending machines for drugs and give the kiddies free crack pipes. I know, we can't have a Freedom and Liberty Reading Hour. Reading hours have to be approved by the left. Silly of me to even think about that.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:06 amWhy in the world do CHILDREN need to have drag queens reading to them? Where in the world does that come from? Damn, how much I missed out on not having a sexually motivated guy dressed up outlandishly as a girl teaching me my ABC's in first grade. No wonder I need help.
Are you OK with this, ear? Really?

It's not in schools. It's in libraries. Where parents may choose to allow their children to attend or not.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:06 amWhy in the world do CHILDREN need to have drag queens reading to them? I'm not a psychiatrist so I have no idea why people choose to dress in drag. But I'm pretty sure it's not because they were exposed to it as children. I would also question whether this is a "fad", since that implies something that comes and goes. As I noted, dressing in drag has a long history in movies and TV.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 10:06 amDrag queens are NOT something that children need to be exposed to. Ear, I consider you a lot more rational than the usual suspects, but you are sounding like them now. You are doing the same thing they do. Changing the subject so they don't have to address their obvious hypocrisy. You are better than that, I hope.earendel wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 5:41 amIt's not in schools. It's in libraries. Yes, ear, it is in schools. And that's what I have been talking about. There are innumerable examples of parents testifying at board meetings reading the pornography they found in their school libraries. Stick to one subject to defend.
And I am not talking about Tom Hanks in some TV show. And you know what? I was not allowed to watch questionable TV shows when I was a kid. My PARENTS decided that. Now the schools are deciding that. I am talking about exposing live children to live drag queens. Tell me WHY that all of a sudden needs to be done. Don't you think the left wouldn't make a stink about a Catholic Priest or a Boy Scout Leader reading to children? Why are drag queens OK?

What's wrong with kids who might like to dress in clothing traditionally associated with the opposite gender seeing examples showing that there's nothing wrong with that?
Whether it's okay for a guy to wear a skirt shouldn't depend on whether he's from Scotland and chooses to call it a kilt. Whether it's okay for a woman to wear pants, or a coat and tie to a formal event, shouldn't depend on the dictates of someone's fashion sense. --Bob

I am not aware of any schools in which drag queens are reading to children. I do know it happens in libraries, but in those instances parents are free to choose whether their children attend.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 6:45 amYes, ear, it is in schools. As for pornography, rather than banning books, how about just having parents tell the school librarian not to allow their children to check out "those" books, while allowing them to remain for others whose parents don't find the books objectionable.
No, I don't think "the left" would object to a priest or Scout leader reading to children.flockofseagulls104 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 6:45 amAnd I am not talking about Tom Hanks in some TV show.
