The expanded 12-team college football playoff has confirmed some dates and details for its initial appearance after the 2024 season. Teams seeded 5-12 will meet on December 20 (Friday) and December 21 at the home stadium of the higher-seeded teams. A team can also designate another (presumably larger) stadium so Georgia Tech could designate Mercedes Benz stadium for the game.
Three second-round games tentatively will take place on January 1, with the fourth either December 31 or January 2. They will be played at the Fiesta, Peach, Rose, and Sugar Bowls. The semifinals will take place at the Cotton and Orange Bowls and the finals will be January 20, 2025 in Atlanta. The bowl assignments will rotate for the 2025 season.
