A Strategic Discussion of Chinese Balloons
Weichert has written an interesting book on Space (among other things)
For those interested. The article touches on everything from Hypersonic technology to satellites to balloons.
https://lawliberty.org/more-than-just-a-balloon/
>>>"For the last decade, China’s military has used relatively simple balloons augmented by Huawei-built sensors to track the movement of US Navy warships in the contested South China Sea. These balloons float high above the ocean, unnoticed by the clueless Americans below, and provide real-time targeting intelligence to China’s growing coterie of anti-access/area-denial (A2/AD) and anti-submarine (ASW) weapons systems that are deployed along the arc of the South and East China Seas—systems which are designed to sink American warships as they come from over the horizon."<<<<

Don't accept Weichert's assertion that Americans are clueless. We're much better at concealing our intelligence gathering and other military capabilities than our adversaries are.
Has Weichert commented on the new U.S. government analysis that says (though we don't know for sure) there's evidence that coronavirus escaped from a Chinese lab?

Probably. Like many did two and three years ago. But they were called conspiracy theorists and racist.

And folks were SO MAD at that (probably incompetent as opposed to hostile) Chinese act that they made sure Memaw and Pap-Pap definitely got Covid over the Thanksgiving holidays.

And what the hell is the Department of Energy jumping into this for?Franklin Veaux wrote:Why is the Department of Energy stating that Covid most likely came from a lab? Are they conspiracy theorists or simply racist?
Because people read SUPER DRAMATIC CLICKBAIT HEADLINES!!!!!!!!!!! but don’t bother to read actual articles.
The SUPER DRAMATIC CLICKBAIT HEADLINE!!!!!! is “Lab Leak Most Likely Origin of Covid-19 Pandemic, Energy Department Now Says.”
The actual boring truth, which people don’t read because it’s not super-dramatic and exciting, is that the Department of Energy says with (and this is a direct quote) “low confidence” that a lab leak might be one possible source of COVID-19.
Low confidence.
But please, don’t let actual facts get in the way of SUPER DRAMATIC CLICKBAIT HEADLINES!!!!!! The world is much more exciting when you only listen to SUPER DRAMATIC CLICKBAIT HEADLINES!!!!!!

I read somewhere they were asked to by Biden or his admin. I'm sure the DOE's experience and ability to analyze, slueth, track, determine sources of radioacttivity was useful in their assessing the source. Just another group throwing their opinion in to the mix.Bob Juch wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 2:38 pmAnd what the hell is the Department of Energy jumping into this for?Franklin Veaux wrote:Why is the Department of Energy stating that Covid most likely came from a lab? What I want to know is how do you use "likely" and "with low confidence" in the same sentence. It's like saying "I think he did it, but I'm sure it was someone else."

Re: A Strategic Discussion of Chinese Balloons
I suppose they're using these terms in a technical sense, where "low confidence" could mean 50-70% and high confidence is 90-100%. We'll never have high confidence about this since only the Chinese government has all the facts.
That's why I was careful to say "(though we don't know for sure) there's evidence that coronavirus escaped from a Chinese lab." No clickbait here.
