Actress best known for her roles in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (for which she received an Oscar nomination) and A Christmas Story as the family's mother. She actually died nearly a month ago, but her death was not revealed until today.

I loved her in Christmas Story, but I thought her turn in Law and Order SVU was amazing. I hoped she'd get a return episode, but she never did.
