Bridge report

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Mon Jan 16, 2023 2:47 pm

Yesterday my District, District 23, held its District Finals to determine who would earn the right to represent our District at the National Finals of the North American Pairs competition, to be held March 8-9 in New Orleans. Top finishers also will receive a nice little check from ACBL to help defray the expenses.

I'm delighted to report that my partner and I won the event! Our District has a notoriously tough field so I consider this quite an accomplishment. (For those who pay attention to my bridge posts and want some idea of scale, winning the District Finals was worth 32.00 gold points.) We basically ran away from the field in the first session, and our average second session was good enough to keep us comfortably in first place. And my work schedule fell out in such a way that I should be able to play the Nationals with no problem.

Please wish us luck, preferably of the good variety, when we go to New Orleans. --Bob
