Just hit our first invitation snag. I've got one set of these types of relatives on each side of my family. On one side, the issue is moot because I've lost touch with all but one of the cousins, and my aunt and uncle are both gone. On this side, though ...

Got an e-mail from a cousin, one of those living far away to whom I sent belated hotel information. She and her family are looking at the logistics of coming, which is good. I don't see them often enough. Ths snag is that she expressed "concern" if her sister is also invited. I see her point.

Sis is a mental and emotional wreck, in large part because of two closely spaced accidents (one car, one bicycle) which almost certainly have damaged her brain. We had lost touch with her for a few years. I believe she was institutionalized for some of that time. She has only recently re-entered her own family's life, let alone those of the rest of the cousins and extended family. She is also the daughter of the "odd duck" aunt, the one that the MoH will have instructions about (my uncle, the blood relative, died a couple of years ago). Sis will be included in those instructions if she comes. She is equally hard for the extended family to deal with. I did not realize that problem extended to her own family as well.

I see no easy way of NOT inviting the sister. I'm not sure if she lives with my aunt or not, but since we plan to invite the aunt and her brother and sister, not inviting the other sibling doesn't seem possible. I know, I know, it's not my problem if one sister doesn't want to attend if the other is coming. Truthfully, I would prefer the e-mailing cousin and her family attend and not the aunt or the other siblings. Not likely to happen. But I think we'll have to invite them all and let the outcome fall out as it will.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.
