I'm wondering if it was the "I'm tired of being a good girl" and then she actually fell for the guy and actually had an addictive personality like many of us do and couldn't rid herself of any of it. Very sad.

I can't help but imagine how her life and career would be today, had she never met Bobby Brown.

Don't get me wrong, my opinion of Bobby Brown is that of a human-sized breathing turd, but she was of age, apparently reasonably smart, and the more successful of the pair. She could have ended it and saved herself many times, many years ago.

It is a pity to see such talent wasted, but it seems to me to be on her.

In my opinion, last night, Jennifer Hudson entered/made her place in The Big Time.

She did the first section without accompaniment, then was joined by just a piano (a nice touch instead of a full orchestra, and easier on the producers). Early on when folks applauded, she waved her hands as if to say, "Stop that; don't make this about me," and later on, got an almost pissed-off expression when they were again trying to make it about her.

I cannot express how hard it is to do what she did live. Most programs we see are prerecorded or they use multiple takes to patch together the best of a scene or a song. That was tremendous.

I always liked JHud but now I am in awe. I probably won't be buying her albums, like I didn't buy Whitney's, but I'll buy a song here and there. She was magnificent, to be so young and so in control.

Not only that, but don't forget she had a max of maybe 24 hours to pull it together. I'm guessing it was more like 10. Isn't it amazing what a real voice can do?

Seems to me that the world lost Whitney Houston a very long time ago.

I didn't get the mourning happening now. She was gone long ago.

It would be like those of us with parents or loved ones with Alzheimer's who die, saying we just lost a great one. We lost them long before Alzheimer's killed them.
