Now it hits close to home

#1 Post by SpacemanSpiff » Wed Aug 04, 2021 6:33 am

Figuratively, not literally.

Mrs. Spiff, her sister, and her sister's husband were going to go to eastern Tennessee to visit my parents-in-law this weekend. The trip got cancelled yesterday because both of the parents came down with COVID. Both have now tested positive.

FIL age 84, got the vaccine some time ago. MIL, age 78, did not, saying all along it was a hoax. She was the first to show symptoms - the loss of smell and taste, and start of congestion. Her lungs aren't in the best of shape to start with.

As of last night, FIL has what he describes as a bad cold, but otherwise he's ok. MIL is now bedridden and is barely making it to the bathroom. And she still thinks it's a hoax, nothing more than an extremely bad cold.

Prayers for them would be appreciated, and please keep the politics out of this.

Just a quick update. FIL has recovered completely, MIL, while better, is still in a weakened state. She at least can walk around the house without problems.

Thanks for the prayers and support, y'all.

Well #$%&@. I wrote too early based upon early yesterday's phone call.

MIL had to go to the ER late yesterday. Difficulties with eating and drinking along with nausea.

Gave her a lot of IV fluids and some antinausea drugs and sent her home. Hospitalization was not an option, as there was no beds available.

She is back home but still having difficulties drinking.

Given my earlier premature post about recovery, I'm holding my breath. Here goes...

Both FIL and MIL are recovering well. Both sounded raspy yesterday, and MIL runs out of gas easily right now, but she's eating ok. Let's hope they both fully recover.

That's good to hear!
