As usual, my daughter has expressed things far more eloquently than I ever could.
I am scared.
I am in a privileged position, pretty secure, but I am an LGBT woman. I am a dual citizen. I am part of a minority faith. I am a partner to someone who needs healthcare.
And above all else, I am an American who loves her country.
And while I know that disagreement is the heart of compromise, and that it is through a variety of views that we find the best way forward, I am afraid for the future. I am afraid that my sisters and nieces won't have the same chances in life that I have had. I am afraid that I will see my friends' rights curtailed, that I will see my rights curtailed. I am afraid I will see my partner and my family have to make impossible decisions to survive.
I know all these things are already true in this country. I love this country despite where we are now because I love the promise of what it says it can be. I am afraid of where we will be in a few months, and that the promise that is America will be lost.
I am afraid.

Re: Thoughts on Justice Ginsbug's Passing
Mitt Romney has just announced that he supports having a vote on Trump's nominee, so it's pretty much a done deal. Susan Collins will be allowed to cast her meaningless vote against to "prove" to the voters in Maine that she's a moderate, and Lisa Murkowski will vote against because she has some degree of integrity.
The next move is up to Biden. He probably can't stop this if he couldn't move Romney, but he can make it known that options are on the table if he wins the election.
