Hasn't he been writing about our decline since we had only the world's eighth largest economy? How does he explain our growth to the world's fourth largest economy after ignoring pretty much all of his recommendations? Or doesn't he ever reality-test his predictions? --Bob

If Victor Davis Hanson thinks that California is so horrible, why does he still live there?

It is essentially a 3rd world country.

Large body of rich at the top and a huge mass of poor at the bottom and a fleeing middle class.

The massive underground economy is another characteristic of a 3rd-world country.

It is telling when San Francisco hotels have to put up signs telling you to clean the poop off your shoes.
