President George W. Bush released a statement today. It illustrates what leadership can look like even from someone with whom I profoundly disagree on most issues, someone I thought (and still think) was terrible at his job. Despite what I thought of his Administration, I never for a minute doubted that George W. Bush was trying to do what was best for America, as he saw it.
