I am shocked that there are 1500 types of 'assault-style' firearms.

I asked a student who was a responsible gun owner to explain why someone like him would want exploding bullets (I had referred to them as armor-piercing, but he explained why that was not accurate). He said if someone is coming at you from ten feet and you hit them with a normal bullet, they may keep coming. With these jobbies, they stop. That struck me as valid self-defense.

I said so then what about 30-round clips for civilians? He said, "Those are just for fun (at the range). None of us (responsible gun owners) can justify them out in the world for anything other than evil use."

Congratulations to Canada. I guess if a bad person wanted one, they could just come across the border, but at least now there is one more charge to throw at them.

Many of them were on display at the Michigan State Capitol this week.

The latest poll says that about half of Americans support the demonstrations. More in the less densely populated states.
