Well, the first class of kids conceived on the Bored (Old joke, but I still like it) has been dropped off at college. She chose North Dakota State University and Ag Engineering.
She is living on an engineering floor, which after much thought we all think is the right choice for her.
We didn't meet her today, but her roommate is from Michigan (Electrical Engineering) and has aspirations of making the rifle or pistol team or something at the Olympics. Apparently, the NDSU coach is a TPTB in that world so it is a good choice in that way for her.
The Spocklette was happy when she learned that about her roommate. I have had her shooting high-powered rifles to prepare for our 2020 trip to Namibia.
The 2 week-old girl that Melly saw at Mall of America in 2001 has grown up.
Gawd, things have changed since the 80's. Now they have things like "Move-in Day" and so forth and the parents are expected to help.
We just threw a bunch of stuff in the car and headed up alone.
Li'l Spock moved in a day after "Move-In Day" three years ago, because we worked cattle on that day. The Spocklette is in his old dorm. Mine (back in the day) was the adjoining dorm.
It is weird how "Muscle Memory" works (for lack of a better term. 32 years since I lived there, and when you are there-it feels like you just left.

Re: Aspirations of the Olympics-The Spocklette's Roommate
My cousin was a superb marksman and had a shot at making the Olympic team. Except he was a Marine and was deployed to someplace I don't remember, and there went the Olympics. I know if I could remember the year, somebody here could tell me where he was deployed, but I can't even remember that.
