Yep, She is Related to me

#1 Post by Spock » Sun Jun 30, 2019 7:21 pm

Last weekend, Mrs S. the Spocklette, and I attended a play at a community theater.

As we bought tickets, the seller asked for our last name to add to their file. We have an uncommon last name ("Wrolson") and as I said the name-she said "You are kidding." Turns out that is her name as well. I wasn't totally surprised as I had seen her name as working for the theater but I didn't know if that was her married name or what. Turns out it is her maiden name.

She is distantly related-I know of her dad and they were at family reunions in the early 80's. Maybe 3rd or 4th cousin with some removed.

Now here is the odd part. Out of curiosity-I searched staff for the theater.

I freaked out a little when I saw under Joy Wrolson.

"Zimbabwe", must be a Wrolson thing. I suspect that it would not come up in very many people's bios anywhere in the country.

As a reminder: "The Smoke of Africa" mostly took place in Zimbabwe.

Maybe you both grew up hearing about an ancestor who made a trip to the area, or had a wish to do so.

You'll get some interesting results if you Google "Zimbabwe Wrolson".
