RIP Bill Buckner

#1 Post by bazodee » Mon May 27, 2019 1:01 pm

Former Red Sox player Bill Buckner passed away this morning.

I hope he was able to find some peace during his latter years.

My understanding is that he and Red Sox Nation came to a rapprochement after Boston won its second World Series title this century. --Bob

Back in the day when Jeff used the Kodak seats at Wrigley Field, which were quite awesome, 4 rows from the 2nd batter warmup circle, a friend of his would do his Sigma Chi stuff when Buckner was waiting. He looked back and acknowledged.
Well, then

Poor guy. I hadn't heard that he had foreshadowed the error (around 2:30 in the video below). He did not deserve the treatment he endured for decades. People forget that the Sox still played (and lost) Game 7. RIP

Everyone has seen Buckner's infamous error replayed over and over again.... but probably weren't aware that he's a bit player in another famous highlight. Buckner is the Dodgers' left fielder who can be seen climbing up the fence in a futile attempt to get to Hank Aaron's record breaking 715th homerun...
