Director of Singing in the Rain, Royal Wedding, Damn Yankees and other great musicals of the 1950s. The later branched into more romantic dramas like Charade and Two for the Road (one of Albert Finney's best early roles). I wonder if the Oscars will make room for him in the obituary tribute tomorrow. If not, expect a mention from whoever announces the segment.
