Tia, aka Coolest Rottweiler on the Planet, will be euthanized today.

I posted about her a couple of weeks ago after it was discovered that she had a cancerous tumor in her leg joint. The only surgical option was a poor one: amputation. She did well for a while, but her mobility has decreased a lot in the last few days and her spark is fading. They (NN's parents) will not watch her suffer any longer, so today is the day.

NN's dad is coming over from Norway tomorrow to get away for a few days...I hope the visit will be good for him. I just wish we had a four-footer for him to love on while he is here.

Hard, hard thing to do, but unfortunately, probably for the best. Getting away is an excellent idea. I hope he has safe travel and a great visit despite underlying sorrow.

The hardest part of having a dog is watching its life come to a close, and especially when you have to decide to end it. God bless Tia and her family.

I am so sorry -- for Tia and for everyone who knew her.

Annie and I have asked Tigger and Ashley to watch for her and show her where to find the best Elysian fields for running.

I'm so sorry, MMFF. Boomer the Persian, Elvis the Yellow Lab and Lucky the Black Cat, who are all cavorting with everybody else's babies, will welcome Tia with open paws, too.

Sorry to hear this. We're approaching the same decision point, which is the tough part of pet ownership (not saying which one is the owner and which is the pet). Just tell her to watch out for Truffles, our Lhasa who was fearless around the bigger dogs.

A lot of dogs make it on 3 legs. Some on 2, with their hind end attached to wheels. Is it possible the fading spark was due to cancer spreading, not just the decreased mobility?

At any rate, RIP Tia.
