30K: I would have gone home w/ 5K here, as I thought the answer was "port".
50K: Pretend I'm still alive; "argent" means silver in Latin. Know Philippines named for a King Phillip & Bolivia named for Simon Bolivar. Go w/ Argentina & stay alive.
Sad to see this player go down this way.

The only reason I know this is because I've seen a question like it at local trivia contests.

How disappointing. I thought sure she'd get this, especially since she knew "Argentina" came from the Spanish word for "silver".

I'm hoping she shows up, either here or on the J! Board, to explain her thinking. I figured that knowing Argentina is Spanish for silver, she'd know that was the answer. --Bob

She talked about it on Facebook. A lot of deliberation time got edited out. She was so hung up on not being able to place the origin of Mauritius's name that she talked herself into it.
