But as storm changes to sleet, snow will freeze. So I gotta go clear it off car when the winds die down.
The 75mph winds were local but not right here in Somerville. Here we got "only" 55mph winds (we got 65mph a week or so ago with no precip).
Trees down, trees hitting houses. TV footage of a giant 18-wheeler truck (whose driver did not heed instruction to stay the hell off the road) turning 180 degrees. Driver was able, as they'd effectively blocked the road, to get truck the next 180 degees & took off down the road. TV peeps are praising driver's driving instead of saying how driver should have parked damn truck instead of taking it out.

Is it not possible that he was already out on the road when the warnings were issued, perhaps even out of state?ghostjmf wrote:TV footage of a giant 18-wheeler truck (whose driver did not heed instruction to stay the hell off the road) turning 180 degrees. I'd have to know what direction driver was coming from, but since the only thing east of Boston is water, & north of here had same forecast, that leaves 2. And my relatives west of here say storm skimmed them too. Leaves only 1 direction, & whatever direction you're coming from, if you don't check the weather for where you're going you're stupid at best.

And then there's the next-door neighbor's tree that fell across our driveway. Just missing my car. I found out about this when the tree crew rang my bell, asking me to pull further up the driveway so none of the limbs they were about to disentangle from the electrical wires would fall on it.
All in all, not a fun day.
The city had told us they were going to cut down this tree in the spring, as it was dead. Poor tree was fully in bud, thanks probably to those warm, warm days we've had in the last weeks, not having gotten that letter from the city.
