Lyrically Speaking - 2/15/17
Here I come unfashionably late again. With just three LSWE games left to go in the season, you're probably wondering why there hasn't been any matching games yet. Matching games are so much fun, I'm pretending you're saying to yourself right now. Well, here you go! It's pretty lame.... as in the matching theme isn't really that hard if you can get enough of the songs. But it'll do in a pinch. There is an "alternate" match that can be made in this game that won't count because it would keep all 12 songs from properly being matched up..... and because I said it won't count, and there's no arguing with that....
1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist, 1 point for each correct match...
1. Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream
Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right
2. I felt a rush like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinning my head around
And taking my body under
3. Well, I`ll tell you one thing
If you would leave It be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name, calling me out
4. Ain't no use in complaining
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you, yeah
5. Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husband's a CPA
6. If the button is pushed
There's no running away
There'll be no one to save
With the world in a grave
Take a look around you, boy
It's bound to scare you, boy
7. Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believed
You'd come along
8. The sky was all purple
There were people running everywhere
Trying to run from the destruction
You know I didn't even care
9. I was a car hop
You were into be-bop
You sang do wop
Diddy wop diddy wop doo
10. I said watch what you say
They`ll be calling you a radical
A liberal
A fanatical criminal
11. She's ported and relieved
And she's stroked and bored
She'll do a hundred and forty
In the top end floored
12. And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
Matches:
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another pair of songs with artist that would make a valid match for this game (4 points).
Image Bonus: I'm going to bury a time capsule to represent the Year 2017! Show me something from today you'd put in it for future generations to marvel at...

1. Power of Love - Huey Lewis & the News
Came out in '84 or '85. 1985 - Bowing for Soup would match
2. December 1962 (Oh what a night) - Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons
Again, looking for '62 sounding lyrics. #11 sounds like a hot rod song, but no clue what it is.
4. Summer of '69 - Brian Admas
Another song found/recognized because I knew from #7 what I was looking for.
5. 1985 - Bowling for Soup
Found it! Didn't recognize it until I was looking for it.
7. Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Came out in '68 to '70. Summer of '69 - Brian Adams....Looking for it now.
9. 65 Love Affair - Paul Davis
Don't know what song #6 is but the lyrics sound like a mid-60's
10. The Logical Song - Supertramp
'79. Can't think of a song with '79 in the title. The album came out in '79, maybe '80 for the song release. Still nothing. WAG
Matches:
Looks like it might be Years in the title of one song with the year another came out. Hmmm.....
I don't have enough to go on for matches but for the songs I don't know, I see if the lyrics sound like a certain time period.

Spinning my head around
And taking my body under
December 1963 (Oh What A Night)-Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons
3. Well, I`ll tell you one thing
If you would leave It be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name, calling me out
Smooth-Santana W/Rob Thomas

And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
Since Logical Song is the only one I didn't match, and it came out in '79, this must be 1979-Smashing Pumpkins...wouldn't have gotten it otherwise, since I have always tried to avoid Billy Corgan's irritating whine at all costs..
Matches:
2 and 11, 6 and 9, 4 and 7, 3 and 8, 1 and 5, 10 and 12
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another pair of songs with artist that would make a valid match for this game (4 points).
1984-David Bowie and I Just Called To Say I Love You-Stevie Wonder. That was harder than I thought it would be. Ten years ago or so it would've been a piece of cake. Total chart recall has left the building.

Make a bad one good, make a wrong one right
"Power of Love" - Huey Lewis and the News
2. I felt a rush like a rolling bolt of thunder
Spinning my head around
And taking my body under
"Oh What a Night (November 1969)" - Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons
3. Well, I`ll tell you one thing
If you would leave It be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name, calling me out
"Smooth" - Santana featuring Rob Thomas
4. Ain't no use in complaining
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenings down at the drive-in
And that's when I met you, yeah
"Summer of '69'" - Bryan Adams
5. Debbie just hit the wall
She never had it all
One Prozac a day
Husband's a CPA
"1985" - Bowling For Soup
6. If the button is pushed
There's no running away
There'll be no one to save
With the world in a grave
Take a look around you, boy
It's bound to scare you, boy
7. Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who'd have believed
You'd come along
8. The sky was all purple
There were people running everywhere
Trying to run from the destruction
You know I didn't even care
"1999" - Prince
9. I was a car hop
You were into be-bop
You sang do wop
Diddy wop diddy wop doo
"'65 Love Affair" - Paul Davis
10. I said watch what you say
They`ll be calling you a radical
A liberal
A fanatical criminal
"The Logical Song" - Supertramp
11. She's ported and relieved
And she's stroked and bored
She'll do a hundred and forty
In the top end floored
12. And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
Matches: 1 and 5, 3 and 8, 2 and 9, 4 and 6, 7 and 11, 10 and 12
Kroxquo Bonus: Name another pair of songs with artist that would make a valid match for this game (4 points).
Can't seem to think of any other songs with years in them except for In the Year 2525 and if I have the theme right that song isn't going to help.
Image Bonus: I'm going to bury a time capsule to represent the Year 2017! Show me something from today you'd put in it for future generations to marvel at...

1979 - Smashing Pumpkins (Mecca Radio is in love with this song... yet no matter how many times I hear it, I can't make heads or tails out of anything Billy Corrigan is saying...)
Matches: The theme was years in song titles that match together with songs that were hits in that particular year...
1-5 (Summer of '69 was technically a Top 40 hit in 1985, but it was released in 1984)
2-11
3-8
4-7 (I was unaware Sweet Caroline was that old!)
6-9
10-12
Image Bonus: I'm going to bury a time capsule to represent the Year 2017! Show me something from today you'd put in it for future generations to marvel at...
It was an off day for the Image Bonus overall... but there were two I had a pretty good reaction to. Since Vandal's already won an IBB this year, I'm letting virginity break the tie and giving the 5 points to Krox for the park fountain shower!

Cool! That's more than my virginity was worth back when I still had it. For the record, I have a Shower Wow installed in my 12 year old daughter's shower and it's like being in a disco in the shower.littlebeast13 wrote: It was an off day for the Image Bonus overall... but there were two I had a pretty good reaction to.
