Lyrically Speaking - 2/14/17

#1 Post by littlebeast13 » Tue Feb 14, 2017 7:30 am

LSWE goes off the deep end!!!!

No, wait.... it's just another boring Tuesday Wordplay. And the key word shouldn't been too big of a surprise today. Enjoy every moment, you only have three more games left in the 2017 LSWE after today....

1 point for the title, 1 point for the artist....

1. Can't you see her standing there?
See how she looks, see how she cares
I let her steal the night away
From me

2. (Turn around) every now and then
I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all
The years have gone by

3. Hoo hoo, nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Hoo hoo, nobody knows it (Nobody knows)

4. If you gave me half a chance you'd see
My desire burning inside of me
But you choose to look the other way

5. Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out, I was losing my mind
Seemed like the real thing
But I was so blind

6. I met her in a Kingstown bar
We fell in love I knew it had to end
We took what we had and we ripped it apart
Now here I am down in Kingstown again

7. I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
With each passin' hour
Someone, somehow
Will be there, ready to share

8. Breezing through the clientele
Spinning yarns that were so lyrical
I really must confess right here
The attraction was purely physical

9. In the warrior's code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries never

10. And each time I tell myself that I
Well, I think I've had enough
But I'm gonna show you, baby
That a woman can be tough

11. How can you stop the rain from falling down
How can you stop the sun from shining
What makes the world go round

12. Blind leading blind
Never hear the laughter
Search through time
Nothing reveals the answer

13. Roll up the carpets
And pull in the blinds
And retreat to the chambers
That I left behind
In hopes there still may be
Love left to find
Still may be love left to find

14. Or you can tell your friends
Just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke
About me on the phone

It's probably up there somewhere, but I'm going to go with My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion. When Titanic was big box office, a friend of mine said, "I'm glad I'm not deaf, but if I was, I could at least take comfort in the fact that I'd never have to hear Celine Dion whine anymore." I whole heartedly agree.

From me

Heart and Soul, Huey Lewis and the News

2. (Turn around) every now and then
I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all
The years have gone by

Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bonnie Tyler

3. Hoo hoo, nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Hoo hoo, nobody knows it (Nobody knows)

Don't go breakin my heart

4. If you gave me half a chance you'd see
My desire burning inside of me
But you choose to look the other way

Heart

5. Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out, I was losing my mind
Seemed like the real thing
But I was so blind

Heart of Glass, Blondie

6. I met her in a Kingstown bar
We fell in love I knew it had to end
We took what we had and we ripped it apart
Now here I am down in Kingstown again

Heart

7. I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
With each passin' hour
Someone, somehow
Will be there, ready to share

Heart

8. Breezing through the clientele
Spinning yarns that were so lyrical
I really must confess right here
The attraction was purely physical

You're in my heart, Rod Stewart

9. In the warrior's code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries never

Heart

10. And each time I tell myself that I
Well, I think I've had enough
But I'm gonna show you, baby
That a woman can be tough

Heart

11. How can you stop the rain from falling down
How can you stop the sun from shining
What makes the world go round

Heart

12. Blind leading blind
Never hear the laughter
Search through time
Nothing reveals the answer

Heart

13. Roll up the carpets
And pull in the blinds
And retreat to the chambers
That I left behind
In hopes there still may be
Love left to find
Still may be love left to find

Heart

14. Or you can tell your friends
Just what a fool I've been
And laugh and joke
About me on the phone
But don't tell my heart

My Achy Breaky Heart, Billy Ray Cyrus

I vote for T-Bone's image.

Heart like a wheel was pretty good too.

Time to apply the 50-50-90 Rule.
1. Can't you see her standing there?
See how she looks, see how she cares
I let her steal the night away
From me

2. (Turn around) every now and then
I get a little bit nervous
That the best of all
The years have gone by

3. Hoo hoo, nobody knows it
When I was down
I was your clown
Hoo hoo, nobody knows it (Nobody knows)

4. If you gave me half a chance you'd see
My desire burning inside of me
But you choose to look the other way

5. Once I had a love and it was divine
Soon found out, I was losing my mind
Seemed like the real thing
But I was so blind

6. I met her in a Kingstown bar
We fell in love I knew it had to end
We took what we had and we ripped it apart
Now here I am down in Kingstown again

7. I need a love that grows
I don't want it unless I know
With each passin' hour
Someone, somehow
Will be there, ready to share

8. Breezing through the clientele
Spinning yarns that were so lyrical
I really must confess right here
The attraction was purely physical

9. In the warrior's code
There's no surrender
Though his body says stop
His spirit cries never

10. And each time I tell myself that I
Well, I think I've had enough
But I'm gonna show you, baby
That a woman can be tough

11. How can you stop the rain from falling down
How can you stop the sun from shining
What makes the world go round

12. Blind leading blind

There was a lot of heart put into finding your images. Nobody got a bigger smile out of me than the very inappropriate (and maybe a little too soon) meme that Weasel found. Wait, is that really Weasel's first IBB of the 2017 LSWE!?!? Yes it is... and well deserved too!

Really? Shirly "Cha Cha" Muldowney was played by Bonnie Bedelia, who also played Mrs. John McClane.

I'd take away 2 for the bad picture.

BiT picked a far better era...

Shirley Muldowney I have heard of.

The movie I had not.

The actress I had not.

I know the John McClane reference secondhand.

Sometime I wonder if you react more to my readily admitting dumbassery or people like BJ who try to pretend they know what they're talking about....

I'd agree with you, but to each their own. And Bob rarely gives me chances to give him JJC points....
