RIP Al Jarreau

I really feel people shouldn't retire if they're not made to. It does something to their immune system. Of course, often health issues were the reason for retirement, but they didn't want to say.

I think the latter is the case quite often: Roger Ebert; Andy Rooney; Morley Safer... all died within a week of their "retirements."

And yet my f-i-l is going on 62 days since he "retired".

Makes it seem like Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant cheated the Grim Reaper by waiting a month after coaching his final game to shuffle off this mortal coil.

As did his rival Joe Paterno. But JoePa may have wished he had gone a couple of months earlier before the Sandusky scandal broke.
