The Boney 500: Song #7

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Thu Dec 22, 2016 10:42 am

Today's Boney 500 song is a bittersweet ode to turning a page in life:

7. I'VE LOVED THESE DAYS-BILLY JOEL (1976)
Album: Turnstiles

Of all the many songs of his that I like, this lesser known one is my favorite. It rarely gets brought up when people mention their favorite
Billy Joel song, yet I think it's one of the prettiest, if not THE prettiest, tunes he's ever composed. The lyrics are nice, too..a
bittersweet summing up of experiences as the singer moves from one phase of his life to another, knowing that the lifestyle he's been living
can't go on like it did before. It's a sad and fond farewell, but one he knows he must make, to a way of life that can't be sustained if he's
ever going to "grow up". This one really gets to me emotionally.

Excellent choice.

My fave Billy Joel song is Laura from The Nylon Curtain.

I've Loved These Days is sneaky good and an interesting choice for top ten.

I think there isn't a category that rewards putting a snapshot into a song, but if there were, Billy would win it.

Delighted to see the Piano Man in the top ten.
