The Boney 500: Album #15

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Mon Dec 05, 2016 10:16 am

We pick up the Boney 500 countdown with this album that came out right around my 7th birthday. My cousin took me to see the movie. We stayed and watched it a second time (they let you do that back then!). I have probably seen the movie 742 times since LOL...

15. A HARD DAY'S NIGHT-THE BEATLES (1964)

Again here, we're talking the UK version (now the standard one everywhere), not the soundtrack version that was the US release in '64.
Which means that on Side 1 we get all of those great songs from the movie...love 'em all. I've said it before...to me, nothing conjures
up the sound, the excitement, the aura of Beatlemania more than the music from that movie. But that's not all! Turn to Side 2 and there
are 6 more excellent tunes, including "Things We Said Today" and "I'll Be Back". Not a song on the whole thing that I don't love. Yeah,
Yeah, Yeah! No You Tube available. Audio link only. Clicking the arrow next to the first song should play the tracks in sequence.

Their kind of music will never catch on.

I sang a few of their songs, and they all sounded like shit for some reason. Posers, they couldn't carry Kanye's jock (or Kim's brassiere, which Kanye got full custody of!)....

They are certainly not on the level of Slim Whitman, who recorded more than 500 songs, made more than 100 albums and sold more than 70 million records. In the 1970s his recording of “Rose Marie” was No. 1 on the British pop charts for 11 weeks, a feat the Beatles never accomplished.

Now THAT'S talent.
