Another good album to cool down from these contentious times. Unless, of course, you hate this artist for one reason or another. In which case, move along...nothing to hear here...
32. TEASER AND THE FIRECAT-CAT STEVENS (1971)
Easily my favorite of Stevens' albums, the others being a little inconsistent in my estimation. This, though, has a lot of
quality melodies, ranging from the light and gentle ("Moonshadow", "The Wind") to the weepy ("How Can I Tell You", "If I Laugh"),
to the socially conscious ("Peace Train")...and to keep things from sinking under the weight of its own gravitas, he ups the
tempo with "Changes IV" and the Caribbean flavored "Tuesday's Dead". Oh, and let's not forget the beautiful "Morning Has Broken".

"Morning has Broken" is one of the songs I picked to play for my wedding guests prior to the ceremony starting. I know that people might object to Cat Stevens as wedding music, but good grief, it's a hymn. So one of my oldest (as in long-time, she's actually younger than I am) friends took the extreme liberty of going up to my brother and making him skip the song. No bridezilla here, but I still remember the inappropriateness of it. She didn't like Kathy Mattea's "Where've You Been" either but stopped short of ruining that one.

I can imagine myself "uninviting" a friend who messed with my music like that. Some things are sacred and untouchable
