DeLillo

#1 Post by danielh41 » Sat Nov 05, 2016 2:48 pm

I'm sitting at a church near the Texas State Capitol, which is being used for the Texas Book Festival. Author Don DeLillo is about to speak and sign books. He was one of the subjects on one of the questions of my successful phone game playoff back in 2001. My Q5 was to put authors in order: Cervantes, one of the Bronte sisters, E.M. Forester, and Don DeLillo.

DeLillo's talk was fascinating, maybe because he rarely does stuff like that. I got him to sign my copy of Zero K (his current book).

That particular church was the venue for only two sessions at the Texas Book Festival, but they happened to be the two sessions I drove down there for. The other session was supposed to have been before DeLillo's, but it was delayed until 7:00 PM due to flight issues. My wife recently took up woodworking, and made a bookcase for some of my books. It's sturdy enough to put our bedroom TV on top of it. So I bought her a copy of Nick Offerman's Good Clean Fun: Misadventures in Sawdust at Offerman Woodshop and got him to sign it at the event. And of course, he was funny in his presentation before the signing.
