One of the great names in shlock cinema, Lewis produced, wrote, and/or directed numerous low budget films in the 1960s and 70s with titles like Blood Feast, Two Thousand Maniacs, Moonshine Mountain, The Wizard of Gore and Goldilocks and the Three Bares. His movies were long on cheese, skin, and gore, and short on actual talent and production values. The couple of his films that I have seen fall into the "so bad they're good" category. He was also a marketing executive and a college literature professor. I'm curious to see if he'll be mentioned in next year's Oscar memorial tribute (or the end of the year TCM tribute for that matter).
Age 87 or 90 (reports vary).
