The Boney 500: Songs 162 and 161

162. ROCKET MAN (I Think It's Going To Be A Long, Long Time)-ELTON JOHN (1972)
Album: Honky Chateau

It was years before I knew what the hell it was Elton was singing in the last line of the chorus (which was why the
commercial a couple of years ago based around that very thing made me burst out laughing first time I saw it). But
with a melody as gorgeous as this one, who the heck cares. Oh, just in case you were still wondering, it's "burning
out his fuse up here alone".

161. HELLO THERE-CHEAP TRICK (1977)
Album: In Color

In less than 2 minutes, Cheap Trick puts out its musical mission statement perfectly. This may be the best opening
album blast ever. It sure served our band well in all those gigs as a way of announcing our presence and saying "OK guys,
here's what you can expect tonight". This causes automatic head banging for me.

The countdown returns on Monday..
