The Boney 500: Songs 166 and 165

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Wed Aug 31, 2016 9:37 am

After the heaviness of today's album selection, it is fortunate that the two songs being unveiled are significantly lighter in mood:

166. START ME UP-THE ROLLING STONES (1981)
Album: Tattoo You

They've had a few decent songs since then, but to me this was the last GREAT Stones song to date.

165. RAMA LAMA DING DONG-THE EDSELS (originally released 1958, a hit in 1961)
Album: ?????

A silly but nonetheless wonderful old doo wop song. It hits all the right spots for a song of this nature.

GREAT song!

I like the doo wop too.

Start Me Up is one of those songs that became a turn off because of overexposure. Not just radio play (I can handle that), but it seems to become the go to song by lazy ad execs who need a car ad for Toyota or Honda or whomever. Hey, cars and trucks start, so Start Me Up is perfect. We'll replay the commercial a gazillion times to make our point, without any regards to the obvious sexual overtones of the song. I'm waiting for it to appear in a commercial for and ED drug.

I agree that Tattoo You was the last listenable Stones album.
