Here's today's 2 song entries. The first is a deep and moving progressive classic, the second just kicks some ass.


170. WISH YOU WERE HERE-PINK FLOYD (1975)
Album: Wish You Were Here

Inspired at least in part, as was a lot of their material, by the emotional issues and mental breakdown suffered by
original group member Syd Barrett. It also addresses co-composer Roger Waters' feelings about the music industry and
his relationship to other people. David Gilmour brings out the best in the lyrics with his vocal and the music is
effectively world weary.




169. PRIDE AND JOY-STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN (1983)
Album: Texas Flood

A twelve-bar blues shuffle that flat out kicks butt. Some seriously cool guitar hero stuff here and tons of fun to
sing (I had way too much fun doing this on my home karaoke machine..yes, I have one). We lost him too soon.

Wish You Were Here has one of the most recognizable acoustic guitar openings ever and some pretty "out there" lyrics.

Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?

Excellent song and I would hope the album is yet to come on your list.


I'm not a huge Stevie fan but I enjoy Pride and Joy when it's on the radio.
