The Boney 500: Songs 180 and 179

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:48 am

For today's song entries, we have a pair of tunes there are...ummm....slightly different in feel from each other, but in the world of the Boneys, they are equals (almost)...

180. MORNING HAS BROKEN-CAT STEVENS (1971)
Album: Teaser And The Firecat

A Christian hymn adapted for inclusion on the "Teaser and the Firecat" album, don't know if he still performs it upon his
return to music after a long hiatus following his conversion to the Muslim faith. At any rate, this is a beautiful song
and is made even more special by the piano part, which I didn't know until recently was played and conceived by Rick Wakeman,
who was soon to join Yes.

179. WHIPPING POST-THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND (1971)
Album: At Fillmore East

This is about as classic as classic rock gets. The instruments whirl round and round like a rock 'n roll cyclone and Gregg
Allman's voice scorches the earth. Dropping down midway through to almost nothing, then building to a frenzied peak,
it's a blues-rock tour de force.
