Three more songs to add to the list, one of them from yesterday's album entry:
239. JUST WHAT I NEEDED-THE CARS (1978)
Album: The Cars
Everything about this song is perfectly put together..from the opening offkilter drum
accents to the cool keyboard hooks to the concise guitar solo to the switch in emphasis
on the beat in the third verse to the goofy lyrics that don't make a lot of sense but
sound great anyway. This is how you put together a pop record.
238. YELLOW RIVER-CHRISTIE (1970)
Album: Christie
A one-hit wonder, but a great one. The optimistic, the worst is in the past melody is
irresistable. Some people interpreted it as a soldier coming home from Vietnam, but it
was actually written with a returning Civil War soldier in mind. I actually always
thought it was the Civil War myself, so I was right for once.
237. LIDO SHUFFLE-BOZ SCAGGS (1976)
Album: Silk Degrees
A great road trip song. Always sounds great on the car radio.

Love the Cars! That's just what I needed!
This is, as far as I know, the first time I've ever heard Yellow River. It'll probably be the last, but thanks for this one time.
Yep, one for the roooooaad . . .
