206. LOVE IS THE ANSWER-UTOPIA (TODD RUNDGREN) (1977)
Album: Oops! Wrong Planet
Well, I mean, I won't say that England Dan and John Ford Coley's hit version was terrible, but Todd
Rundgren's vocal is a zillion times more impassioned. Hey, he wrote it, so it oughta be.
205. I GOT A NAME-JIM CROCE (1973)
Album: I Got A Name
Because of what happened, this wound up coming off as a sadder song than intended. Time In A Bottle took
a more prominent place in his legacy, but I've always preferred this one.
204. WOMAN-PETER & GORDON (1966)
Album: Woman
One of several hits written for the duo by Paul McCartney, although this one was under a pseudonym,
Bernard Webb, to prove that they were not just successful because of Paul's help (which didn't make
sense since they DID have some hits not written by Macca, but anyway...). This did indeed score pretty
well, and it is full of lovely McCartney songcraft. Gordon Waller does a nice job on the lead.
