Leaving for the Nationals

#1 Post by Bob78164 » Sun Jul 24, 2016 1:02 am

I'll be in D.C. for the Summer Nationals. My ride to the airport leaves in about four hours, and I'll arrive in time to play starting Monday. As usual, reports will be here. --Bob

Thanks, Mac. Didn't scratch in either session of today's regional pair event. More regional pairs tomorrow. --Bob

A couple of low section scratches today, good for 1.63 red points. Tomorrow, the Werner Open Pairs. --Bob

A poor first session followed by an above-average evening session leaves us on the outside looking in. We did pick up 1.58 platinum points, bringing my total for the tournament to 3.21. --Bob

Played a regional Swiss today. Won three matches for 71 victory points, which wasn't good enough to make the overalls. Picked up 1.32 red points, bringing my total for the tournament to 4.53 points. Tomorrow, the national Swiss event. --Bob

Played the Roth Open Swiss. Won three matches and tied another, good for 1.86 platinum points and an early exit from the event. My total for the tournament is now a paltry 6.39. Tomorrow, another regional Swiss. --Bob

Whoops! It turns out that there is no Swiss tomorrow afternoon and I'm not waking up in time to play at 10:00 a.m., so we'll be playing a Compact Knockout instead. --Bob

Finally had a decent game. Came in third in Bracket I of the Compact Knockouts, good for 10.31 gold points. That more than doubled my total to date for the tournament, bringing it to 16.70. My tournament ends tomorrow with the A/X Swiss Teams. --Bob

The A/X Swiss did not go well. We finished with 1 win in 7 matches, good for 0.44 red points. My total for the week is a rather disappointing 17.14 points. --Bob
