If you had your druthers

#1 Post by Ritterskoop » Mon Jul 11, 2016 9:13 pm

This is from a coworker ...

If you had your druthers, on what show, from any time period, would you be a contestant?

Concentration with Hugh Downs (1960s).

Of course, I was only in my single-digit years most of that era, so I probably wouldn't do very well! :P

"Jeopardy!" 20 years ago when my speed of recall was at its peak.

Big surprise here...Rock 'n Roll Jeopardy...providing they changed some of the rules to allow you to continue as champ as long as you kept winning and to keep whatever you totaled at the end of the game. That was not the case though, as no matter what your final score was, if you won you got 5K. It was also one show and done, and considering you had to pay your own expenses, by the time you factor in taxes, hotel and travel, even if you won you might clear a buck and a half. I contend that they were too sceered of me to use normal Jeopardy policies

Jeopardy! today, now that I know a lot more about strategy and how to play the game.

I always liked "The Mole". Your skill and smarts gave you the best chance of staying in the game vs getting 'voted out' because you were a threat.

I picked "$64,000 Question" - you get a week to study one category and you know the category.

And if you were lucky, the producers would have given you the answers beforehand. :P

Seriously, nobody has mentioned our show yet?

Prime-time WWTBAM from the Phone Game era, of course!

The person who asked me said not including shows you've done ... Yes, that version of the show would top my list if we are thinking of it that way.

If it's my WWTBAM fantasy, I'd prefer to be on Super Millionaire.

I would of course go on WWTBAM. Again. Without the ROF FF contest, as even with buttons that work right I could only win by a fluke. And with PAF back, which they're never going to do. Having to bring a +1 to Vegas will be tough, but I still want a chance at this show. And oh yeah, I'd prefer a random 50/50, or to replace it entirely with STQ. Which I believe is what they did when STQ appeared; my memory's getting fuzzy.

The original version of "You Bet Your Life". No money to speak of, but the chance to schmooze with Groucho more than makes up for that.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

While jaybee's show may have given me an advantage (my college nickname was The Mole Man :-) ), I would have to go with WWTBAM during the Regis years.
