Pulitzer Prize winning journalist best known for his coverage of the war in Cambodia. His book about the war, The Killing Fields was made into an acclaimed movie starring Sam Waterston (as Schanberg) and Oscar-winning Haing S. Ngor as the Cambodian journalist Schanberg befriended and who was left behind and imprisoned (he later escaped) when Schanberg was thrown out of Cambodia after the Khmer Rouge seized power.

Age 82.
