The Boney 500: Album #140

#1 Post by T_Bone0806 » Mon Jun 13, 2016 9:08 am

Picking up from where we left off on Friday:

140. TALKING BOOK-STEVIE WONDER (1972)

Early in the string of albums in which most everything he did was pure gold,
not everything on this album works for ME (2 others that came in the next few
years are yet to come in this countdown), but what does grab me really grabs
tight. "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" is so amiable you sort of feel guilty
if you DON'T like it, "Blame It On The Sun" is heartbreaking, "Superstition" is,
well... "Superstition"..pretty hard to resist that funky clavinet and drums groove,
especially when the horns kick in, and "I Believe (When I Fall In Love It Will Be
Forever)", with its sweeping, hypnotic accompaniment, is simply one of my favorite
love songs period.

I've been hoping one of these albums would speak to me and this is the one I'm ordering first.

Turns out I was able to get the album for free in my Amazon Prime library.

It's not the same as being able to pop in the disc in the car, but I played a little of it on the computer and it was just fine. That disc thing just makes me feel old.

I see what you did there.

Hurrah! There are 139 albums and over 300 songs to go, so hopefully you'll find more goodies along the way..

This album originally spoke in many ways...on the cover, the artist and album name were also written in Braille, as well as a message that said "Here is my music. It is all I have to tell you how I feel. Know that your love keeps my love strong.

— Stevie".

That's pretty cool. Good trivia , too.
