Lyrically Speaking 4/8/16

#1 Post by elwoodblues » Thu Apr 07, 2016 8:15 pm

We have come to the end of this fortnight of LS. Thank you for playing, and I hope you had fun.

This game is fairly simple. Just pick out a key word from each title and tell me who this game is about. One point for the title, one point for the artist and there is a three-point bonus question.

1. I was a willow last night in my dream
I bent down over a clear running stream
I sang you the song that I heard up above
And you keep me alive with your sweet flowing love

2. Well I tried to make it Sunday, but I got so damn depressed
That I set my sights on Monday and I got myself undressed
I ain't ready for the altar but I do agree there's times
When a woman sure can be a friend of mine

3. I've listened to preachers,
I've listened to fools
I've watched all the dropouts
Who make their own rules

4. Well, it really doesn't matter to me
I guess you're leaving was meant to be
It's down to you now
You wanna be free

5. I gotta be cool relax, get hip
Get on my track's
Take a back seat, hitch-hike
And take a long ride on my motor bike

6. We don't need no education
We dont need no thought control
No dark sarcasm in the classroom
Teachers leave them kids alone

7. Four in the morning
Crapped out
Yawning
Longing my life away
I'll never worry
Why should I?
It's all gonna fade

8. I know there's only, only one like you
There's no way they could have made two
You're all I'm living for, your love I'll keep forevermore

Bonus: Pick out a key word from each title and tell me to whom I am referring.

Crazy on You, Heart

I'm already thinking Willie Nelson.

Crazy little thing called love, Queen

Even when I embarrass myself, I still enjoy playing LS the rare opportunities it presents itself...

OK, there's "crazy" (multiple times), and one song with a two word title so I'm guessing it's "goldenhair". It's either "brick" or "wall". And I have no idea which word to pick from #8. However it all sounds like you're looking for either Patsy Kline or Donald Trump. Given the tenor of the times, I'll go with The Donald.

I assume it's Trump. I wish we could talk about something else, though..the joke was funny at first, but now it's just plain frightening. I keep waiting for the ghost of Allen Funt to pop up and tell all of us to smile...

Anyway, thanks so much for the games, Mr. Blues. There were some clever themes here, and it never hurts my feelings when the majority of entries are classic tunes in the middle of the boomer generation songbook! :D

Mr. elwood, thank you for a wonderul LS. Thank you for letting me play, and thank you for being kind to me. I had a ton of fun, and I really liked looking for the pictures. I don't know any of these songs, and I do not recognize any ninja connections.
Bonus: Pick out a key word from each title and tell me to whom I am referring.
Because I like to make stuff up, I think the person to whom all the songs refer is Mr. Dr. Stephen Hawking. He is most definitely not a ninja, but I like his accent.

Here is a picture of him that has a sort of LS connection:
