Neat stuff about the Letterman and his love for this song.
How could I have lived almost 50 years and never known this story and song. I can only plead that I have never paid much attention to music. Ever since I learned of Zevon's "Send Lawyers, Guns and Money" through READING Jimmy Buffet's book/s, I have kind of wanted to dig into Zevon-but never did.
Once again, thanks to Frontier Partisans.

Great article and great song. Oddly enough, the album cover they show is from his self-titled debut, not this one:

You're welcome.
The whole 68 minutes is more than worth it. Roland starts around the 15-minute mark.
