Country singer best known for recording "Young Love" and a number of other country hits in the 1950s and 60s.

Age 87.

Unfortunately, with his bad timing, he just missed being mentioned at the Grammy Awards. It will be interesting to see if any film people hurry up their demises this week to try to get a nod at the Oscars on Sunday.

He was a delight, a favorite of everybody in my mother's family.

Does that remark about the Grammys mean he won't get a mention next year?
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller
