Spoiler
Sure, I remember all the categories. Mostly I remembered how I sucked at most of them. I was hoping this would be a previous question from all of the cateogries, since I do read all the answers in an attempt to learn something (which reminds me, did you ever say if you figured out my cryptogram for the 26 bonus Kitty Sandwich points?). Wishful thinking. Ha!

That said, I wasn't planning on playing the QOD, but you sucked me in every day. Especially since the questions were such that it was always possible for a blind hog to find an acorn or two (not that I found any on highway day or Olympic day, ha!). So, I have enjoyed your games and felt compelled to play them, even though I didn't know shit on most of them. Thanks!

FINAL ANSWERS/POINTS

#21 Post by NellyLunatic1980 » Tue Apr 01, 2008 3:45 am

Well, all good things must come to an end. This is the final round of questions for this month.

I hope you remember all of the categories this month cuz they will all be coming back to haunt you one last time. The questions will be asked in the order that the respective categories were played this month.

Each correct answer is worth 5 points. There have been 19 categories this month, so that is 95 points. But I’ll throw in a bonus 5 points for a perfect score just to make it an even 100.

Obviously, I forgot that we started this QoD in February. There were 3 bonus categories on top of the normal March questions, so that was 22 categories total. I still offered 5 points for a perfect score, but nobody got it anyway.

I don't think that it was necessarily too obscure. Obscure yes, just not too obscure! I n retrospect I had certainly heard about the prokaryotic nature of blue-green "algae" before. Not that I would have gotten it even if I had noticed the position of the A in the clue.

But it is probably fair to say that it is now outdated. What used to be the prokaryotic blue-green algae is now more typically classified as Cyanobacteria and classified in the bacteria family. That would leave no true prokaryotic algae.

I don't think "obscure" is the right word. I don't see how "Prokaryotic and eukaryotic" would lead one specifically to algae. They are general terms that describe different types of cells. It would be like saying "Shiny and dull" to lead a person to the answer "coins" since some are shiny and some are dull. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic could lead a person to all sorts of cell related answers just as shiny and dull could lead a person to all sorts of answers.

Maybe "Both prokaryotic and eukaryotic" but just "Prokaryotic and eukaryotic" is way too vague. To me, anyway.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Thanks again, Mr. Nelly. You were an excellent question maker-upper! Even when you made up questions about stuff I never heard of, I could try for lots of them and have a good time guessing.

I send you my best thank-you gift, wet kisses. It's okay if you wipe them off.
