Marley had already mentioned it, but it got buried in another thread. Thanks for bringing it out on its own.
I just ordered chicken and an egg from Amazon. I'll let you know.

I figured that somebody had posted already, but with my brief lurking during tax time it's easy for me to miss the posts.

Oooh!! I can't wait. Would I give it another shot? Sure. What the heck. Gotta be in my area though.

I will be there on opening day this year--don't know why but I have a renewed sense of optimism...but then again, it might just be the Lagavulin...any way, I will be trying again.

Like John Adams to Abigail, I will be there "as soon as I am able". Whether that's in Boston, Bangor, or on the tail end of an audit trip to NJ or PA remains to be seen.

This makes me very happy!

This year, try having some of that Lagavulin before - you never know!

So, I'm trying to strategize to determine the best time to audition this year. Is is best to get in there at the very beginning? Or is it best to let them start seeing people and then go in a month or two later but still a month or so before taping starts?

I'm guessing that they'll start doing auditions in mid to late May and then start taping in August.

Anybody have any thoughts?

I would think the earlier the better. They seem to get burned out as they continue so pick only the really outstanding contestants.

That certainly seems reasonable. I basically have lots of flexibility as to when I audition, so it makes sense for me to try and optimize the process to the extent that I can. Anybody else have any thoughts?

Seems like with discuss this every year and--not being privy to the APs thoughts--can't agree on a definitive answer.

Doing a "summer" audition gives one a chance to be considered for more taping dates, if one makes it into the pool, than waiting for one of the audience auditions. OTOH, if one has to go to some effort to travel to NYC (not an issue for those of you who live there), I find the opportunity to see some tapings makes the trip more worthwhile than going all that way just for audition.

Auditioning in the very first week or so may not be a good idea, because they may still be training the new APs and calibrating exactly what type of contestants they're interested in for the new season. And there is often a longer delay to receive a PC, as they wait to bunch up the first batch of responses.

Let them train the new producers so you won't have to be interviewed twice (convincing two people instead of one), but do it way before they start taping, IMO. The more senior the producer, the more likely they are to remember you auditioning before.
