ex Mott The Hoople drummer. Not on the success-o-meter level of Bowie and Frey, but lots of peeps my age were into Mott in the early 70's. And a bit weird, considering Mott's best known song is "All The Young Dudes", written and given to the band by David Bowie himself...story goes that Mott, discouraged by their lack of success, was going to break up. Bowie liked the band and talked them out of it, giving them their choice of one of two songs he'd written, "Dudes" or "Suffragette City". I love Bowie's recording of the latter, but I think Mott would've nailed it pretty good as well, although ultimately I think they made the right choice.
Aged 67, complications from Alzheimer's..
