One noticeable difference with this season: the audience obviously knows ahead of time that the audience contestant has already been picked--and it's not them--since their applause is so tepid when Chris announces this segment. On this episode, the camera was focusing on a section of the audience who all put their hands down, before apparently being prompted to clap again.

It seems to me that was the case last year, wasn't it? Last year, they were outfitting the audience players with lavalier microphones rather than handing them one onstage. If that's not a hint that you're not getting picked, I don't know what is.
