Anonymous v. KKK
The hacker group Anonymous claims that it has hacked the KKK and it has begun "outing" individuals it claims are members. Among those it has outed are four current United States senators. I'm not naming them here, nor am I linking to any story that does so, because I have no idea what assurances, if any, we have that Anonymous is correct in its assertion. I have little doubt, though, that this question will be answered one way or another within the next few weeks. --Bob

I think you might be conflating two stories. The supposed link to politicians is from a single hacker who is not affiliated with Anonymous, and Anonymous says that his "evidence" is too flimsy for them to back. They have only promised to reveal the names of a thousand KKKers, starting on Nov. 5. This lone hacker appears to be trying to steal a little of their thunder.

Re: Anonymous v. KKK
Outing someone an organization claims is its member is not really outing that person other than saying the "KKK says Joe Biden is a member". It doesn't mean Joe Biden is a member, just that someone at the KKK put his name in their database. The KKK could be putting in names falsely just for the impact. Sort of like Ashley Madison had 1,000s of women members in their database though only a handful had ever logged in (or were likely even real).

Re: Anonymous v. KKK
If I"m reading the reports correctly, the "evidence" is even thinner than the Ashley Madison debacle. Here's the quote from the hacker, who calls himself "Amped Attacks:"BackInTex wrote:Outing someone an organization claims is its member is not really outing that person other than saying the "KKK says Joe Biden is a member". It doesn't mean Joe Biden is a member, just that someone at the KKK put his name in their database. The KKK could be putting in names falsely just for the impact. Sort of like Ashley Madison had 1,000s of women members in their database though only a handful had ever logged in (or were likely even real).
"I worked for nine days to gather and verify all the information that was gathered before its release,” he said. “I got the information from several KKK websites when I [hacked] them and was able to dump their database. I went through many emails that was signed up with these sites and a few of the emails that sparked my interest was the ones of the politicians in question there would be no reason for them to be signed up on any KKK website unless they supported it or was involved in it.”
Here's the tweet (since deleted) from Anonymous, about the supposed politician links: "We wont release names w/out due diligence," the tweet read. "We discourage the circulation of disinfo & will not promote an unverifiable list of politicians."

Re: Anonymous v. KKK
This hacker is alleging that Jim Grey, the openly gay mayor of Lexington, Kentucky is a member of the KKK.
That would be quite the example of cognitive dissonance.

The only US Senator that I know is/was a member of the KKK is Robert Byrd, but he is dead.

The stories I had read did attribute the release to Anonymous. How about this guy? He made it to Congress after he "wised up" and became a Republican in 1989 and almost made it to the Senate.BackInTex wrote:The only US Senator that I know is/was a member of the KKK is Robert Byrd, but he is dead.

Another case of a politician leaving the Democratic party and going to the party where his ideas are much more welcome.
Byrd changed with the times as did the Democratic party. The Republican party changed with the times too so they could "embrace" all those bigots the Democrats left behind.

How do you explain all those bigots supporting Ben Carson, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz for President, SSS? Oh, I know how you rationalize it to yourself, but maybe you can go beyond that and embrace the truth. Speaking of Senator Byrd, he is not related to the admiral and explorer, Richard Evelyn Byrd Jr.BackInTex wrote:The only US Senator that I know is/was a member of the KKK is Robert Byrd, but he is dead.
I'm the admiral's 11th cousin twice removed.

Re: Anonymous v. KKK
How relevant is David Duke to anything? How relevant was he when he was even half way relevant? Can you keep the conversation in the current century, please, and maybe connected to reality? Then maybe ponder the question I asked. I don't expect an answer because it was rhetorical, but maybe you can question your mindset a little. That would be progress.silverscreenselect wrote:Tell that to David Duke.flockofseagulls104 wrote: Your party is the one that's full of bigots.
[Added] Btw, I checked. For what reason I don't know. David Duke was elected to a position ONCE. He barely won one term as a State Representative in 1989 as a Republican, after running several times for various positions as a Democrat. He ran for the Democrat Nomination for President in 1988. He got 4% of the vote in Louisiana and pretty much no votes anywhere else. So he ran as an independent and was not even a factor. He has lost every other election he ran in, over a dozen overall. He has never represented anyone. But he is your icon and model for all Republicans? His fame came from the liberal press who loved to use him to advance their narrative.
SSS, please do some introspection and examine your bigotry against conservatives.
