Randy Edsall was fired at Maryland after a lackluster start. They have a 2-4 record this season, 0-2 in conference play, and lost the last three games (WVU, Michigan, and Ohio State) by a combined 122-34. There had been some rumors last week that he wasn't coming back next season, then later on that he'd be fired after the OSU game. Of course, it didn't help that he stormed out of the post-game press conference when asked about his future with the Terps. I suspect the reason he wasn't fired last year is because the buyout was too high (and they may have still been paying off firing the previous coach, Ralph Friedgen).
Dan McCarney was fired from North Texas State (yes, they are a D-Ia school) about an hour after they lost their latest game on Saturday. The school has gone 0-5 for the season, and lost their homecoming game on Saturday to lower-level Portland State 66-7, the worst beatdown by a D-1aa school on a D-1a school ever.
